Frankendorf

Frankendorf is a municipality in the southern part of the Weimar area and part of the joint management Mellingen.

History

Frankendorf was first mentioned in 1200 in a document of Viscount Dietrich von Kirchberg and came in 1350 as part of the rule chapel village to the city of Erfurt. War damage occurred during the Thirty Years' War, and after the Battle of Jena, 1806. A major fire in 1802 sought Frankendorf home.

Personalities

The municipality is the birthplace of football player Romstedt Armin, who played one match for the German Democratic Republic and from 1979 to 1992 played for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt.
