Garrebourg

Garrebourg ( German Garburg ) is a commune with 517 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Sarrebourg and Canton Phalsbourg.

Geography

The community Garrebourg lies about 14 kilometers east of Sarrebourg at an altitude 215-491 m above sea level. The municipality covers 8.34 km ². The village lies on a hill above the Zorntal in the Vosges Mountains on the border of Alsace. The northwestern boundary of the municipality forms the Marne au Rhin Canal de la with the boat lift Saint-Louis/Arzviller.

The municipality includes the hamlet Garrebourg Ehrenweg and Kreutz head.

Neighboring communities of Garrebourg are Lutzelbourg in the north, Hultehouse the northwest, Haegen the southeast, Haselbourg in the south and Saint -Louis in the West.

History

The place was only from 1661 to France and then was first called Garbourg, was then by the Treaty of Frankfurt in 1871 again German and French after the First World War.

The community is predominantly forestry. The place is accessible only by a single major road of Lutzelbourg from. All other roads meet agricultural connection paths.
