Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012

The German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 was organized as a casting show called Unser Star für Baku (acronym USfB ). She ran from 12 January to 16 February 2012 in eight live broadcasts on television channels ProSieben and Das Erste. Winner of the competition was Roman Lob with the song Standing Still.

Prehistory

After the two previous competitions German ESC decided ProSieben and the EU Competition NDR, in 2012 to be re- decide the television viewers, which interpreter with which song represent Germany in the final of the contest in Baku.

On 15 June 2011, a further cooperation between the ARD and ProSieben has been officially announced. In addition to Thomas D belonged to Stefan Raab and Alina Süggeler, the singer of the band Frida Gold.

Concept

The participants for the final of the Euro Vision Song Contest in Baku was determined in eight television programs. In a nationwide casting himself candidates were in a " Castingbox " on ProSieben and events apply various radio stations. The jury finally selected from thousands of applicants twenty participants for the TV shows from.

Ten of the candidates appeared in the first two elimination shows, five per shipment came on. In the two following shows two participants dropped out, in the fifth show and in the quarterfinals each participant. In the semifinals, the two finalists were chosen from the four remaining candidates. In the finale the audience chose the first song with which the candidate will represent Germany in Azerbaijan and then from the two remaining candidates the winner.

The decision, which came forth candidates who met only the viewers by televoting. With the constant display of the current voting standings and the current, percentage voting result, there were a novelty in German casting shows. First elimination show

The first of the five elimination shows took place on 12 January 2012. Of the ten participants, viewers voted five in the next round.

Second excretion Show

The second of the five elimination shows took place on 19 January 2012. Of the ten participants, in turn, viewers re-elected five in the next round.

Third excretion Show

The third of the five elimination shows took place on 26 January 2012. The remaining ten contestants of the first and second show competed against each other. The viewers chose eight teams into the next round.

Fourth excretion Show

The fourth of five elimination shows took place on 2 February 2012. The remaining eight candidates of the third show competed against each other. The viewers chose this time by televoting countdown six participants in the next round. It was not, as previously triggered a single 60-second countdown for the end of voting, but for each to progress leading placement its own, so that after a short break, each one after the other places were determined one to six. The last of the five elimination shows took place on 6 February 2012. The remaining six candidates of the fourth show competed against each other. The viewers chose this time by televoting countdown five participants in the next round.

Quarter Final Show

The quarter-finals took place on 9 February 2012 and was broadcast the first show at first. The remaining five candidates sang in two rounds two titles. The viewers voted by televoting countdown four participants in the next round.

Semi-final show

The semi-finals took place on 13 February 2012, and was broadcast on ProSieben again. Each of the remaining four contestants sang in a first round of a title. After a televoting countdown the last placed athlete was eliminated. The other three candidates sang a second song, after which the viewers determined the two finalists in a further vote.

Final Show

The finale was held on 16 February 2012 and was transferred to the First. First, both candidates sang three specially composed songs. This was followed by a vote of the audience, which of the three songs of each candidate should appear in Baku. This track carried the two finalists before once more before "Star for Baku " was chosen by voting of the phone. Roman Lob won and is represented with the title " Standing Still " by Steve Robson, Jamie Cullum and Wayne Hector Germany at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Baku.

Odds

Criticism
