Gerrie Knetemann

Gerhard Friedrich plasticine man named Gerrie plasticine man ( born March 6, 1951 in Amsterdam, † November 2, 2004 in Bergen, North Holland province ) was a Dutch cyclist.

Career

Plasticine man, also known under the name " de Kneet " was in the 1970s as one of the best cyclists in the world. He was able to win more than 130 victories, including ten stage victories in the Tour de France, two at the Amstel Gold Race and one in Paris-Nice. Highlight of his career was his victory in the world road championship in 1978 at the Nürburgring.

Between 1975 and 1983 plasticine man drove for the TI- Raleigh team. In 1983, he crashed heavily in the race Across Flanders. In 1989, he ended the active cycling. He then supervised the road riders in the Netherlands as national coach.

Plasticine man suffered at the age of 53 years on a cycling trip with friends in Bergen a fatal heart attack. 2006 and 2007, the bicycle race Grote Prijs Gerrie plasticine man was discharged as part of the UCI Europe Tour in the province of Gelderland.
