Ghost (Devin Townsend Project album)

Ghost is a studio album by the Canadian rock musician Devin Townsend from the year 2011. It is part of his album cycle called the Devin Townsend Project and was published simultaneously with the album Deconstruction. In contrast to the other works of Townsend, which usually can be the genre Progressive Metal assign, Ghost is rather quiet, experimental, and influenced by the genre Ambient. Thus, it represents the counterpart of Deconstruction, which is dominated by the Extreme Metal. Advance was the longest song, Feather, published for promotional purposes. The album received mostly positive reviews.

Except for Monsoon and Infinite Ocean all the songs were written by Devin Townsend. Some of the ambient sounds were recorded by Townsend himself in the great outdoors.

Track list

A melody that someone was playing in a park of Vancouver, Townsend inspired the song Ghost. He thanked the unknown person in the CD booklet.

A complete live recording of both Ghost and Deconstruction was released in 2012 published Boxset By a Thread.

Townsend had written more songs for the album, including the tracks Drench, Case and Watch You already available for download. These were not included on the album due to its darker mood. Townsend, however, is planning to publish the rest of the songs at a later date under the title Ghost II.
