Gil Gutknecht

Gilbert William " Gil " Gutknecht ( born March 20, 1951 in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa) is an American politician. Between 1995 and 2007 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Gil Gutknecht studied after high school until 1973 at the University of Northern Iowa. Later he attended until 1978, the World Wide College of Auctioneering, also in Iowa. Gutknecht was involved in trade and real estate business. Since 1979 he has also held house auctions.

Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1982 and 1994 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Minnesota. In the congressional elections in 1994 was the first electoral district of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he stepped on 3 January 1995, the successor to Tim Penny. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2007, six contiguous legislatures. There he was a member of a subcommittee of the Committee on Agriculture. In the 2006 elections, he defeated Tim Walz.

Gil Gutknecht is married to Mary Keefe. The couple has three grown children and lives in Rochester.
