Huntington Hornets

The Huntington Hornets were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Huntington, West Virginia. The home of the Hornets was the Veterans Memorial Field House.

History

The Grand Rapids Rockets of the International Hockey League in 1956 from Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to Huntington, West Virginia, relocated and renamed the Huntington Hornets. In its first and only season with the team missed the fifth and thus penultimate place in the final of the IHL Turner Cup, the runner-up Indianapolis Chiefs with 57 points, just one point more in the regular season reached as Huntington. Following the 1956/57 season, the franchise was sold and to Louisville, Kentucky, moved, where it subsequently participated under the name Louisville Rebels in the game operation of the IHL.
