Isidoro Verga

Isidoro Verga ( born April 29, 1832 in Bassano Taverina; † August 10, 1899 in Rome) was Italian canonist and cardinal.

In 1859, Isidoro Verga was ordained a priest. Since 1877 Verga Pro- secretary and in 1878 Secretary of the Congregation Council was (now the Congregation for the Clergy ).

In the consistory of November 10, 1884 Verga was by Pope Leo XIII. created cardinal and appointed shortly afterwards a cardinal deacon of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria. Beginning in 1885 was Cardinal Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura Verga and then 1888-1896 Prefect of the Congregation for Religious. In 1891 he received the title of Santa Maria in Via Lata diakonia and 1896, Verga was included in the class of cardinal priest with the titular church of San Callisto. In October of the same year the Pope ernannnte him to Kardinalgroßpönitentiar and in November 1896, Cardinal Bishop of the Diocese of Albano .. On December 13, 1896 Isidoro Verga received episcopal consecration by the Cardinal Dean Oreglia Luigi di Santo Stefano.
