Ismail (Arabic إسماعيل, DMG Ismā ʿ īl ) is the pronunciation used in Arabic and Russian space of the Semitic name Ishmael. According to Islamic tradition Ismail is considered the ancestor of the Arabs. The Turkish form of the name is Ismail.
