Istebné

Istebne (Hungarian Isztebne ) is a municipality in Okres Dolny Kubin within the Žilinský in Slovakia.

Location

The village lies in the valley of the river Orava (German Arwa ) in the historic landscape Orava, below the eastern foothills of the Little Fatra and western ends of the Orava Orava Highlands and Magura.

History

In the district Hrádok several findings, such as a silver treasure from the Hallstatt period and a fastening of Púchov Culture detectable. The town was first mentioned in 1316 as Istebna writing. 1382 the place of the lower nobleman's family Dávid was assigned, since the 18th century it was owned by the families Csillághy and Ambrose. The place itself was an agricultural community, in spite of the little fertile soil.

1952 here a cottage factory was established, however it is now closed.

Other attractions in a baroque - classicist country castle from the 18th century, which are presently used as a children's home, as well as an evangelical articular part of the year 1686th Fully built of wood, it was built in 1730 and extended to her in the 19th century alone standing bell tower built. Today the church is only one of five remaining articular.
