Jacetania

The Jacetania ( Chazetania Aragonese ) is a Comarca (administrative unit ) in the northwest of the Spanish Autonomous Region of Aragón. It is each part in the province of Zaragoza ( the municipios Salvatierra de Esca, Sigüés, Artieda and Mianos ) and the province of Huesca. The Jacetania has an area of ​​1857.9 km ² 18,664 inhabitants ( 2010). The capital is Jaca, in which nearly 71 % of the population of the comarca live.

The Jacetania located in the Pyrenees, and is crossed by the River Aragón. The highest mountain is the Collarada ( 2,886 m). The Comarca is bordered to the west by the province and region of Navarra ( in the Roncal Valley), to the north by France, and on the east by the Aragonese comarca of Alto Gallego and on the south by the Comarcas Hoya de Huesca and Cinco Villas.

The most important cultural assets of Jacetania are the Cathedral of Jaca and the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña.

In Canfranc there is a built in 1928 international railway station for transport to France, which, however, since 1975, when on the French side, the line was damaged, no longer used and will be forfeited.

In the Jacetania are two of the most important and oldest ski resorts in Spain: Candanchú.
