John Mica

John L. Mica ( born January 27, 1943 in Binghamton, New York) is an American businessman, politician of the Republican Party and since 1993 member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida.

Biography

After visiting the Miami Edison High School, he studied at Miami -Dade Community College and earned an associate degree in 1965 (AA). He then studied at the University of Florida and finished this in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). He then worked as an entrepreneur.

His political career began in 1977 as a member of the House of Representatives from Florida (Florida House of Representatives ), where he served as a representative of the Republican until 1981. He was then to 1985 on the staff of Paula Hawkins, who was then newly elected Republican U.S. Senator for Florida.

1992 Mica was finally first elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represents there after eight elections since the January 3, 1993 the 7th Congressional District of Florida. He is currently a senior member of the Republican minority highest fraction ( Ranking Minority Member) opposition leader in the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure ( U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure).

His brother Daniel A. Mica was from 1979 to 1989 also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida.
