William C. Cramer

William Cato Cramer ( August 4, 1922 * Denver, Colorado; † 18 October 2003 in Saint Petersburg, Florida ) was an American politician ( Republican), who represented the state of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Cramer attended the public school and the St. Petersburg Junior College. When the Second World War broke out, he volunteered for service in the Navy Reserve. There he served 1943-1946. Moreover, he graduated in 1946 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1948 and from Harvard University Law School in Cambridge (Massachusetts ). He then worked as a lawyer in private practice.

Cramer was elected in 1950 in the House of Representatives from Florida and remained there until 1952. He ran even 1952 for the 83rd Congress, but failed. After that, he was 1952-1984 delegate or substitute a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant. From 1964 to 1984 he sat in the Republican National Committee. In addition, he was from 1953 to 1954 Attorney in Pinellas County.

Cramer was elected as a Republican to the 84th and the seven succeeding Congresses. His term lasted from January 3, 1955 to January 3, 1971. He participated in 1956 out of Southern Manifesto, which spoke out against racial integration in public institutions. Cramer ran for Congress in 1970 not again, but applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate; he lost while Lawton Chiles.

William Cramer died on 18 October 2003 in Saint Petersburg and was buried at the local Woodlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
