Jörgen Persson

Jörgen Persson ( born April 22, 1966 in Halmstad, Sweden) is a Swedish table tennis player.

Career

Jörgen Persson in 1991 in Chiba World Champion and 1986 European Champion in Prague in the men's singles. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he had to (because medal -less ) 4th place content with the ungrateful. The European ranking tournament Europe Top -12, he won in 1992. With the Swedish team, he won four world titles and six European Championships. In 1991 he also won the World Cup. The four-time Swedish champion also played many years for various clubs in the German Bundesliga (Borussia Dusseldorf, ATSV Saarbrücken, CFC Hertha 06, TTF Ochsenhausen, SV Pluederhausen ). In 1996 Jörgen Persson the Fair Play Award of the Association of Swedish sports journalists. In the 2007/2008 season, Persson joined the German Bundesliga TTC Rhön- bubble - Maberzell Fulda, where he plays with his friend Jan- Ove Waldner in the legendary double. What was remarkable was his performance at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, when he was again able to reach 4th place at the age of 42 years.

Energis Masters

In this high class always occupied prize money tournament, Jörgen Persson was able to secure the title twice: in 2005 against Jan -Ove Waldner and 2007 in the final against Dimitrij Ovtcharov. In 2008 he failed only in the semifinals to Vladimir Samsonov. 2011 Jörgen Persson again managed to move into the final, but failed in the Chinese Li Ping.
