Karsten Müller

Karsten Müller ( born November 23, 1970 in Hamburg ) is a German chess player and author.

Life

Karsten Müller learned the game of chess as a child by his father. In 1981, he joined the SC Diogenes Hamburg, with whom he won the 1987 German youth club championship. Since 1988, Mueller plays for Hamburger SK in the first Bundesliga. He was appointed by the World Chess Federation FIDE International Master for 1992, since 1997 it bears the title of Grand Master. Karsten Müller took from 1996 to 2004 in eight German Retail championships, the best results were two third places (1996 and 1997). In addition, he won the 2000 Dähne Cup. In 2007, he was starting for the Sports Association a law firm in Hamburg, Essen German operating individual sports champion in chess. He also played in foreign leagues: in Austria for the SK tracks and village in France for Marseille Duchamp.

Karsten Müller has a PhD in Mathematics ( PhD 2002 John Michalicek ). He is considered endgame expert and writes regular columns for the website Chesscafe.com and since 1997 for ChessBase Magazine. For the Fritz chess server of the company ChessBase he produced since 2011 under the name of " Endgame Magic Show" at regular intervals training sessions on the topic of endings. He is also known as a chess coach and author of several chess books authored in English. From the German Chess Federation, he was honored as Coach of the Year in 2007.

His Elo rating (as of August 2013) is 2528, the previous highest was in 2558 in the first half of 1999.
