Kay County, Oklahoma

Kay County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Newkirk.

Geography

The County is located in northern Oklahoma, bordering Kansas and has an area of ​​2448 square kilometers, of which 68 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Cowley County ( Kansas), Osage County, Noble County, Garfield County and Grant County.

History

Kay County was formed in 1895 as an original county from parts of Oklahoma Territory. It was named after the old name, the K County. The County ( Oklahoma Land Run ) was settled by white settlers during the fourth official land ownership acquisition of 16 September 1893.
