McIntosh County (Oklahoma)

McIntosh County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Eufaula.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Oklahoma and has an area of 1845 square kilometers, of which 240 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Muskogee County, Haskell County, Pittsburg County, Hughes County, Okfuskee County and Okmulgee County.

History

McIntosh County was formed in 1898 as an original county of Muskogee country. It was named from the people of the Creek to the family McIntosh.

According to the census in 2000 lived in McIntosh County 19,456 people in 8,085 households and 5,683 families. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer.
