History

The club was founded in 1941, and with his enthusiastic frontman Th Jepsen, the team quickly caught attention in the city. Mid-1950s, the club specializing in indoor handball and both departments, ladies and gentlemen, had gradually sporting success.

The Women's Department of KIF Kolding plays since 1998 in the Danish Håndboldligaen. In 2005, the team moved to Vejen order, now called Kolding, carrying its games in Vejen Idrætscenter. The club never came so far but closer to top teams like Viborg HK or Slagelse DT.

In 1981, the men's department rose from the third Danish league. Two years later, Kolding rose again in the second division. KIF came in 1984 the rise in the Danish primary series; after 3 years, they celebrated the first championship of the club. Since then, the team is an integral part of the basic series with 12 league titles, the biggest international successes were the semi-finals of the EHF Champions League 2002 and the final of the European Cup City 1997.
