Genesis

For the first time an album by the band by Adam Dutkiewicz and Brendan O'Brien produced. The band played before the album's release the song A Light in a Darkened World at their concerts as a kind of preview of the new album. On 5 June 2009 the music video was released to Starting Over.

Style

On this album the band continues the already on the last album, As Daylight Dies and played more on the mainstream oriented music. The typical of metalcore hardcore elements have been reduced and it is rather the melody in the first place. In addition, Killswitch Engage built several technical and progressive elements in their music. The exchange between guttural and clean vocals are just as diverse guitar solos still available. The album is also very catchy and quiet songs like Lost or The Return find.

Success

It was in the first week 58,000 copies sold, and the album is the best selling in the band's history from Killswitch Engage. It reached # 7 on the weekly Billboard 200 chart in the U.S..
