Kirchzarten is a municipality in the southern Black Forest in the district of Breisgau in the Black Forest in Baden- Württemberg ( Germany ), with approximately 10,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Geographical location

The compression in the Freiburg area centrally located in the valley of the Dreisamtal im Breisgau municipality is located in the Black Forest Nature Park. It is bordered to the east on the community of Freiburg. My nucleus is from Zastler Bach ( then called Krummbach ) flows through south-west and passed by the also flowing to Dreisamstadion Brugga.

To Kirchzarten with up to the 1970s independent municipalities castle and Tender comprises 23 villages, hamlets, tines, farms and houses. History

In the Celtic period in the triangle between Wagensteig Bach and Rotbach was a circa 200 hectares Celtic settlement, mentioned by the ancient geographer Ptolemy in the 2nd century as Tarodunum. Churches

  • The parish church of St. Gallus points to the early possessions of the monastery of St. Gall. The church was built in the 12th century, when the church life shifted from Hinterzarten to Kirchzarten. The church has Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements (interior ).
