The Kirov Oblast (Russian Кировская область / Kirovskaya oblast ) is a Russian administrative unit. It is located in the eastern part of European Russia in the Volga Federal District.

History

The area came under Russian rule in the 15th century, which is an important step towards the Urals was for Russia. Later it belonged mostly to the government of Vyatka. The current administrative division was founded in 1934 as Krai ( region ) founded, but was renamed in 1936 in Oblast.
