Kuens

Caines (Italian Caine ) is a town in South Tyrol at the entrance of Passeiertal near Merano with 398 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012).

The present parish church in Caines goes back to the Roman era and is dedicated to St. Mauritius and St. Korbinian ( the coat of arms shows Korbinian, who founded a monastery at Caines, on his journey to Rome with the bear ) dedicated. Caines belonged to the end of the First World War to the jurisdiction Merano and was part of the district of Merano.

Caines is also the starting point for excursions into the Spronsertal.
