Ritten

The Ritten ( Renon Italian ) is a wide-ranging, from 1000 to 1200 m high plateau of north of Bolzano in South Tyrol (Italy ), which is limited by the Eisack the east and the current flowing through the Sarn Valley Talfer in the West.

The Ritten is eponym named after him Ritten municipality with 7695 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), the 111 sq km of the plateau, and extends from a total of 17 villages is (12 fractions and five hamlets).

Geology

The Ritten is a part of the Bozen quartz porphyry plate or Etschtaler volcanic group. It is dominated by the more northerly Rittner Horn ( 2260 m). The Rittner Earth pyramids are a well known natural monument.

History

The Ritten is first mentioned in 900 as Mons Ritanus documented. A hospice in the town Lengmoos established and handed over to the Teutonic Order - As early as 1200, - thanks to its location at the old Imperial Way. The court seat was long the stone castle on the Ritten. In the 17th century the Ritten by wealthy citizens of Bolzano was discovered for the summer, as it is much cooler than in the summer particularly hot state capital on the local plateau. Many mansions were particularly in Assumption, the southwestern foothills of Upper Bozen, built.

1907 Ritten was developed through a gear train from Bolzano. In the 1960s, the economic boom continued a considerable building activity in motion, all the villages of the municipality of Renon were connected by a road network with each other and Bolzano. In succession of the previous Rittner cable car since 2009 combines a new cabin with upper orbit Bolzano Bolzano.

Culture and sights

Furthermore, there are on the Ritten the family home. In the attached church Lichtenstern the remains of Josef Mayr- Nussers are buried. The Roncolo castle is set in Renon area, at the foot of rides and output of Sarntal. In the Coming Lengmoos the Rittner summer games and various concerts and exhibitions are held every year.

Economy and infrastructure

The Ritten is agricultural. Agriculture, tourism and the craft are the main sources of revenue of the municipality. Part of the population commutes to the nearby Bolzano to work.

The largest enterprises on the Ritten are Loacker and Finstral.

Education

The middle school in the main town Rittner Klobenstein is named after Hans von Hoffensthal. The nearest secondary schools are in Bolzano.
