Kujalleq
Kujalleq municipality ( German Südkommune ) is a Greenlandic metropoloitan with a population of 7,417 (as of 2012) in an area of 32,000 km ². Seat of local government is Qaqortoq.
Location
Kujalleq is located in the south of Greenland. In the north the municipality borders on Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.
History
Kujalleq municipality was founded in the wake of Greenland structural reform, which came into force on 1 January 2009 by the merger of the former municipalities Nanortalik, Narsaq and Qaqortoq.
Coat of Arms Description
The coat of arms is divided into silver and red and has a turned -bent main shield in confused colors. The en face, thus facing the viewer, horned ram's head replaced in the shield as well as the colors.
Declaration of Arms
Designed by Sys Abrahamsen coat of arms shows a ram's head as a symbol of the important sheep farming in South Greenland. The colors and the stylized sun have upwards on the Greenland crest.
