Kysucký Lieskovec

Kysucký Lieskovec (Slovak 1927-1944 " Lieskovec nad Kysucou " - until 1927 only " Lieskovec "; Hungarian Újhelymogyoród - to 1907 Lieszkovec ) is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia, with 2338 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). Administratively it belongs to the Okres Kysucké Nové Mesto, which belongs to the Žilinský.

Geography

The landscape to the traditional counting Kysuca community is by the river Lodnianka just before the confluence with the Kysuca on the right bank. It extends in an east-west direction in the valley of Lodnianka on the western slopes of the highlands Kysucká Highlands. Kysucký Lieskovec is six kilometers away from Kysucké Nové Mesto and 17 kilometers from Čadca.

History

The village was mentioned in documents for the first time in 1438 as Leskovecz after he had been founded around 1400, and belonged to the estate of Budatín. 1598 there were 13 houses and a mill in 1784 already 124 houses and 681 inhabitants. The town was known in the past mainly by local wire ties and making baskets.

1944-1946 the neighboring community Lodno was a part of Kysucký Lieskovec.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Kysucký Lieskovec 2,349 inhabitants, of whom 2,322 Slovaks, Czechs seven, three German and one Pole and Ukrainians; a resident had a different ethnic group. 14 inhabitants did not respond. 2,208 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, ten residents of the Seventh- day Adventist Church, three residents to the Greek Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church AB and one population to the Orthodox Church and the evangelical church; three residents were other denomination. 48 residents were non-denominational and 82 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
