Laplae District

Amphoe Laplae ( Thai อำเภอ ลับแล ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the west of the province of Uttaradit. The Uttaradit Province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Uttaradit the Tron and the province of Uttaradit, Amphoe Si Satchanalai in the Sukhothai Province and Amphoe Den Chai in Phrae province.

Economy

In the district Laplae among other hand-woven cotton fabrics are produced. The dyed with natural dyes fabrics are a five-star OTOP product.

History

In the past, the administration building was in Mueang Thung Yang. Later it was moved to Mon Cham Sin, about one kilometer north of the present location. Since the administration was accessible only with difficulty, Luang Si Phanon Mat decided to lay them by Mon Sayammin. At the same time attended King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) Laplae. He wanted to reserve Mon Cham Sin for the location of a Buddha statue called " Phra Luca " ( พระ เหลือ ), which had been poured from the gold that the " Phra Phuttha Chinnarat " of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat ( Phitsanulok Province ) left remained.

Management

Amphoe Laplae is divided into eight subdistricts (tambon ), which are divided further into 63 villages ( Muban ).

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Si Phanom Mat ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ศรี พนม มา ศ ) consists of the whole tambon Si Phanom Mat,
  • Hua Dong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หัว ดง ) consists of parts of the tambon Mae Phun
  • Thung Yang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ทุ่ง ยั้ง ) consists of parts of Tambon Thung Yang and Phai Lom.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
