Lavernay

Lavernay is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lavernay situated at an altitude of 215 m above sea level, about 16 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, in the wide valley of the Ruisseau de Recologne.

The area of ​​7.74 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The area is slightly undulating and mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but there are also some smaller forest areas ( including the Bois de la Cote, the Bois de la Chassignole and the Bois des Rappes ). History

In the 14th century, the first chapel was built by Lavernay. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

With 587 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lavernay one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
