Placey

Placey is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Placey situated at an altitude of 247 m above sea level, about 14 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, on a slightly inclined slope to the east.

The area of ​​2.57 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The area is slightly undulating and mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but there are also some smaller areas of forest ( Bois Saint -Paul and Bois de la Combe du Remay ). Through the village stream, the northern part is drained in an open valley to the Ruisseau de Noironte. To the south, the municipality's area extends over the plateau (260 m) in the headwaters of the Ruisseau de pommeau (inflow of the Ruisseau de Recologne ). With 281 m is reached on the hill east of the village is the highest elevation of Placey.

Neighboring communities of Placey are Recologne and Noironte in the north, Audeux in the east, Mazerolles -le- Salin and Lavernay in the south and Franey in the West.

History

Various traces indicate that the municipality of Placey was already inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period. In the Middle Ages Placey belonged to the rule Audeux. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Placey is a member of the comprehensive 13 municipalities municipal association Communauté de communes des Rives de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The Chapel of Notre- Dame de la Nativity was built in the 16th century in the Gothic style and remodeled in 1716.

Population

With 145 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Placey one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 60 and 85 people, a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1970s. Until the early 1990s, the population had more than doubled since then, and remains at this level.

Economy and infrastructure
