Lenora (Prachatice District)

Lenora ( German: Eleonorenhain ) is a municipality with 810 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in Okres Prachatice ( district Prachatitz ) in South Bohemia, Czech Republic.

History

The place on the Warm Vltava in Šumava emerged only in 1834 by the construction of a glass works by Johann Meyr. Prince Johann Adolf II, Prince of Schwarzenberg (1799-1888) owned the forest, was the settlement in honor of his wife Eleonore the name Eleonorenhain. Princess Eleonore von Schwarzenberg (1812-1873) was the daughter of Moritz Liechtenstein (1775-1819) and Marie Leopoldine of Galantha Esterházy ( 1788-1846 ). See also Schwarzenberg ( nobility ).

About 1859 was the site of one of the largest glassworks in Bohemia. With the expulsion of the German population after 1945, the glassworks, the last was owned by the brothers Alfonso and Siegfried Kralik was nationalized.

On a hill there is a monument commemorating Andreas Hartauer who created the song in it deep in the Bohemian Forest. The Bohemian composer Bedrich Smetana held on several occasions because of his tinnitus in Eleonorenhain on to recover. His stay in Eleonorenhain is occupied by a scrapbook which is operated by the family Kralik tourist house. It is believed that he was " The Moldau " settled here near the Vltava source to inspire his work.

Next to the castle is the Rechle, a covered wooden bridge over the Warm Vltava, the most famous monument of the place.
