Les Forges (Morbihan)

Les Forges ( Breton: Ar Govelioù, Gallo: Lez Forj ) is a commune with 391 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pays de Josselin.

Geography

Les Forges is located in the far north of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays de Josselin.

Neighboring communities are located in the department of Côtes- d'Armor municipalities Le Cambout and Plumieux in the north, Mohon and Saint- Malo -des- Trois -Fontaines in the east, La Grée -Saint -Laurent and Lanouée in the south and Pleugriffet and Bréhan in the West.

The town itself is situated on the D778 Josselin after Loudéac. A further regional road link is the D16 from Josselin about Rohan by Mauron. The most important national connection is the N 24 which extends around twelve kilometers south of Les Forges. The closest connection to this is west of Josselin.

The most important waters are the rivers Lié, Ninian and Oust, which is here channeled Canal de Nantes à Brest called and the streams Blaye and Durbœf. This partially form the municipality and the department of border. In addition, there are some small ponds in the municipality. The majority of the community area is covered by the Forêt de Lanouée.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro -Sant Malou (French Pays de Saint- Malo ) and within this region to region Bro Loudieg (French Pays de Loudéac ) and shares his story. From 1883 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. Les Forges was created as a municipality in 1883 by splitting the former town Lanouée. Since then, the place is assigned to the Canton Josselin.
