Pleugriffet

Pleugriffet ( Breton: Ploueg - Grifed ) is a commune of 1,180 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Pleugriffet located in the center of Brittany in the north of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Bréhan in the northeast, Les Forges to the east, and Lanouée Guégon the southeast, Lantillac in the south, Radenac in the southwest, Réguiny in the west and Crédin in the northwest and north.

The place is located away from roads for inter-regional traffic. The most important road is the D764 from Pontivy to Josselin, which leads across the community. The next major road connection is the N24, which runs for several kilometers south of the community.

The most important waters are the River Oust, the river La Ville and the Canal de Nantes à Brest. Along these waterways is partially on the municipal boundary.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro - Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Baod (French Pays de Baud) and shares his story. From 1801 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 belonged to the canton Pleugriffet Réguiny.
