List of members of the European Court of Justice
The European Court of Justice (ECJ, officially called only Court ) is the judicial body of the European Union. Since the Nice Treaty, each Member State shall appoint at least one judge to the Court. To ensure the efficiency of the enlarged Court, a Grand Chamber of eleven judges is created, which occurs as saying the body instead of the plenum.
Currently, the Court consists of 28 judges and eight advocates-general. Acting President is Vassilios Skouris. The name of the currently serving judges are highlighted in bold type.
