London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham [ bɑ ː ən kɪŋ dægnəm ] is a city district of London. It is located in the northeast of the city. With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965, he emerged from the Municipal Borough of Barking and Dagenham in the Municipal Borough of the county of Essex. The municipality was originally called the London Borough of Barking and received its present name in 1980.

The population continued in 2008, composed of 75.1 % White, 8.3 % Asian, 11.9% black and 1.1 % Chinese.

Barking and Dagenham maintains twinning with the German town of Witten and with the Polish city Tczew. In Dagenham is since 1931 a Ford plant.
