Lumban, Laguna

Lumban is a Philippine municipality in the province of Laguna 104 kilometers southeast of Manila. It has 29,470 inhabitants ( census 2010). Lumban has an area of 96.8 square kilometers, the fourth largest municipality in the province of Laguna.

Geography

On the territory of the municipality lies the man-made Caliraya Lake.

History

Lumban is one of the oldest towns in Laguna. The name derives from the Lumbang - from tree. The provincial capital, Santa Cruz, and Pagsanjan Cavinti and were once part of Lumban.
