Magomed Kurugliyev

Magomed Tschikibubajewitsch Kuruglijew ( born January 16, 1974 in Tsnal, Dagestan ) is a former Kazakh wrestler. He was much won numerous medals at the World and Asian Championships in free style.

Career

Magomed Kuruglijew began as a teenager in 1988 with the rings. The 1.78 meter tall athlete who wrestled mostly as an adult in the middleweight division, was a member of the Central Sports Club of the Kazakh army in Alma- Ata (now Almaty). He wrestled only in free style and was trained by Danim Atamkulow and Valentin Pustawetow.

His international career began Magomed Kuruglijew at the Junior World Championship ( espoir ) in 1993 in Athens. He finished it in the middleweight division behind Eldar Assanow from Ukraine, but before Leslie Gutches from the United States the 2nd place.

In the senior level, he debuted in 1995. Doing so, he came at the Asian Championship in Manila heavyweight on the 5th Place. A few weeks later he started deep in the World Championship in Atlanta in the welterweight division, two weight classes. The strong detraining will be there left its mark on him, because he came there only the 16th Place.

Magomed Kuruglijew but also launched in the years 1996 and 1997 in the welterweight division. The best results were there the 2nd place in the AFC Asian Cup 1996 in Xiaoshan / China, where he finished in second place behind the South Koreans Park Jang -soon and the first place in the East Asian Championship 1997 Busan / South Korea, where he even the strong South Korean Moon Eui- jae defeated. At the 1996 Olympics in Athens, he lost his two fights that he denied and therefore achieved the 19th Place and in the World Cup 1997 in Krasnoyarsk, he remained without a win, he lost, amongst others, against David Bichinashvili, the then launched for Ukraine, but later moved to the German Wrestling Association, and landed on the 27th place.

Much more successful Magomed Kuruglijew cut off at the 1998 World Cup, again starting at middleweight, in Tehran. He won there four fights, losing only against Magomed Ibragimov from Macedonia and Chadschimurad Magomedov of Russia, which he took a good 5th place.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he lost against Yoel Romero Palacio from Cuba and Igors Samusonoks from Latvia, reaching only a victory over the Canadians Justin Abdou the 10th Place.

A silver medal won Magomed Kuruglijew at the Asian Games 2002 in Busan, but he was defeated only in the finale of Moon Eui- jae. In 2003, he came at the World Championships in New York in the middleweight division back to a good 5th place. He defeated it Hidekuzur Yokoyama from Japan, Sergei Kolesnikov from Israel and Ghiţă Nicolae from Romania. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 it succeeded then again not him, to place themselves in front of the field. He lost to Sergei Borchanko from Ukraine and Cael Sanderson from the United States, the future Olympic champion and only reached the 18th place.

In 2005, Magomed Kuruglijew was finally rewarded for his perseverance. He won a world championship bronze medal at the World Championships in Budapest in the middleweight division with a 3rd place. He defeated Daniel Kennedy from Ireland, Arkadi Tschopa from Bulgaria, Travis Cross from Canada and what is particularly noteworthy Saschid Saschidow from Russia, the world champion of 2003. Against Rewas Mindoraschwili from Georgia he lost.

At the end of his career he took in 2006 at the Asian Games in Doha middleweight Reza Yazdani behind from Iran and Sajurbek Sochijew from Uzbekistan 3rd place.

Since ending his active career, he has been active in Kazakhstan as a wrestler trainer.
