Manuel De Sica

Manuel De Sica ( born February 24, 1949 in Rome ) is an Italian composer.

Life

De Sica, son of actor - couple Vittorio De Sica and Maria Mercader and brother of Christian De Sica visited early, music lessons and teachers included Bruno Maderna.

After a period with the group The Ancients who released two LPs and several television appearances completed, moved to the composition.

The range of his work ranges from popular song compositions ( for ao Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett ) on soundtracks to numerous classical chamber music, performed for example by Salvatore Accardo or Enrico Dindo. Also for television De Sica operates.

His first film compositions of approximately 90 wrote De Sica in 1968 for a film of his father; for the The Garden of the Finzi Contini, he received an Oscar nomination. Other awards were for 1992 Al lupo, al lupo ( Nastro d' Argento ) and 1996 for Celluloide (David di Donatello ). With his brother and the directors Enrico Oldoini and Carlo Vanzina he has been working together ever again.

In 1974, he also turned briefly to the Director. In addition to the short film was made for television Intorno L' eroe, where his father and his brother took over roles.

On 20 January 2004 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
