Marty Nothstein

Marty Wayne Nothstein ( born February 10, 1971 in Allentown, Pennsylvania ) is a former American professional cyclist.

Sports career

Marty Nothstein was initially mainly active in short-term events on the track. He won 34 U.S. championship titles, among others, he won between 1996 and 2001, each year the title in the sprint, team sprint and keirin in.

His first medal at web - Cycling World Championships took Marty Nothstein in 1993 when he won silver in the keirin behind Gary Neiwand. The following year he became world champion in keirin and the sprint. The world champion in keirin he won again in 1996. At the Olympic Games in the same year in Atlanta, he lost in the sprint final against the Germans Jens Fiedler 0-2, thus securing the silver medal. In the following Olympic Games in Athens, he was able to become Olympic champion in the sprint. At the Pan American Games in 1999 he won three gold medals in the team sprint ( with Christian Marcello Arrue and Johnny Barrios ), Sprint and Keirin.

In the following years Nothstein also launched in highway as well as in Six Days. He was road champion in 2003 from New York City. He competed in a total of 22 six-day races and won the 2002 together with Ryan Oelkers the of Moscow. Today ( 2013) he heads the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown Cycling Center, Pennsylvania.
