Matt Heafy

Matthew Kiichi Heafy ( born January 26, 1986 in Iwakuni, Japan) is an American singer and guitarist. He is a member of metal bands Trivium and Capharnaum. Heafys mother is Japanese, his father Irishman with a German parent.

Biography

Matthew Heafy was discovered by his current band mates in a talent show at the Teague Middle School in Altamonte Springs (Florida ). Heafy played and sang the song Self Esteem by The Offspring. After Heafy is joined Trivium, he took over the rhythm guitar and vocals. Together with lead guitarist Corey Beaulieu he takes over the songwriting for Trivium.

He won the Golden God Award at the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards 2006.

Heafy currently writes a column for the magazine Guitar World. He is supported by his bandmates Corey Beaulieu. The first column appeared in the August issue of 2006.

Tomorrow is Monday

After Ember to Inferno, Matt decided to experiment with a post-hardcore music, and started a joke band called Tomorrow Is Monday. The band released only one song: Head on Collision with a Rosebush Catching Fire. Matt said in an interview with British magazine rock sound that the song was written, recorded and produced in just one hour.

Roadrunner United

In 2005, the Roadrunner Records 25th Anniversary released the album Roadrunner United. Heafy was next to Joey Jordison ( Slipknot ), Robert Flynn ( Machine Head ), and Dino Cazares ( Fear Factory ) is one of four " team captains " who were involved in the songwriting. For the project, the four captains selected from 57 musicians from 45 past and present Roadrunner bands that have played and recorded the written titles. Often written by Heafy songs were traded as the best of the album.

Signature Guitars

In the spring of 2013, the guitar manufacturer Epiphone Heafy devoted two signature models. A Les Paul Custom and a Les Paul Custom as a 7 -string. Both guitars have a mahogany neck and body with a flat maple top. The guitar is available in only black or ebony -colored ( Ebony). Both guitars rely on active pickups from EMG. During the 6 -string model has installed a EMG 85 (neck) and EMG 81 ( bridge) humbucking pickups, the 7 -string model an EMG 707 ( neck) and EMG -81 -7 ( bridge).
