Max Birbraer

Maxim Birbrajer (Russian Максим Бирбраер; born July 31, 1981 in Ust- Kamenogorsk, Kazakh SSR ) is an Israeli- Kazakh hockey player who stands since 2009 at the Cardiff Devils in the Elite Ice Hockey League contract. He is considered the most famous hockey player of Israel.

Career

The 1.85 m wide winger was born in Kazakhstan, first played in his native Israel before moving to North America in 1999. After a year at the Newmarket Hurricanes second-rate match operation of the Canadian Hockey League Birbrajer 2000 was ever chosen as the first Israeli in an NHL Entry Draft. The New Jersey Devils, who had the rights to left-handed shooters came 67th secured in the third round, however, put him only at their farm team, the Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League.

For the season 2003/ 04 changed Birbrajer to league rivals San Antonio Rampage, but was soon used only at the Laredo Bucks in the Central Hockey League. After further involvement in the minor league ECHL, where he went for the San Diego Gulls and the Long Beach Ice Dogs on the ice, the Israeli moved to the Cardiff Devils in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. With this he won the 2007 EIHL Challenge Cup.

After two years in the UK Maxim Birbrajer 2008 returned back to his native Kazakhstan, where he ran aground on Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk in the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league. In January 2009, the attacker has signed a contract with the German second division Heilbronner Falken, which was, however, not extended at the end of the season despite decent performances and twelve scorer points, including four goals in 22 games. Since the 2009/10 season, he is back for the Cardiff Devils in the EIHL on the ice. On 24 October 2009, he succeeded with seven assists in a game, a new league record of the EIHL.

Internationally

For the Israeli national Maxim Birbrajer denied the D- World Men Championships 1997, 1999 and 2000. During the Division II 2008 World Cup, the attacker his competitive comeback for the team gave to Israel after eight years. In 2013 he stood for the Israelis in the Division II on the ice. In so far 28 World Cup matches Birbrajer scored a total of 20 goals and 28 assists.
