The McKenzie County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Watford City.

Geography

The County is located in western North Dakota, bordering Montana and has an area of ​​7410 square kilometers, of which 308 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Williams County, Mountrail County, Dunn County, Billings County, Golden Valley County, Wibaux County ( Montana) and Richland County ( Montana).

History

McKenzie County was formed in 1905. It was named after Alexander McKenzie a political leader in North Dakota.
