Slope County, North Dakota
Slope County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Amidon.
Geography
The County is located in southwestern North Dakota is bordered to the west by Montana, is located in the south about 50 miles from South Dakota and has an area of 3158 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Billings County, Stark County, Hettinger County, Adams County, Bowman County, Fallon County ( Montana) and Golden Valley County.
History
Slope County was formed in 1915. It was named bach the Missouri Slope, an area in western North Dakota, west of the Missouri.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Slope County 767 people in 313 households and 222 families. The population density was 0.14 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 99.74 percent and 0.13 percent whites of Native Americans; 0.13 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.13 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. African Americans, Asians, residents of the Pacific island region and other ethnic groups were not available.
Of the 313 households out of which 30.0 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 64.5 percent were married couples living together, 3.8 percent were single mothers, 28.8 percent were non-families, 27.2 percent of all households and 10.5 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.96.
Based on the county the population was spread from 25.3 percent population under 18 years, 4.2 percent between 18 and 24 years, 25.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 27.6 percent between 45 and 64 years and 17.9 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 116.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 117.0 males.
The median income for a household was $ 24,667, and the median income for a family was $ 26,058. Males have a median income of $ 20,000, women $ 12,115. The per capita income was $ 14,513. 15.4 percent of families and 16.9 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 16.3 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 8.0 percent of those 65 years.
