Mücka

Mücka, Upper Sorbian Mikov, is a municipality in the district Görlitz, Saxony. It is located in the Sorbian settlement area in Upper Lusatia and is a member of the Management Association Diehsa.

Geography

The community Mücka lies in the northern part of the county. It is located about 8 km northwest of the city Niesky, surrounded by forest and pond lined landscapes of the biosphere reserve Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape, whose seat is in Mücka. The Black Schoeps upstream dammed by Mücka around 3 km in the reservoir Quitzdorf.

Community structure

Districts are Mücka ( with 722 inhabitants, 31 December 2008 ), Förstgen ( Dolha Boršć, 276 inhabitants), Förstgen East ( Dolha Boršć - Wuchod, 110 inhabitants) and Leipgen ( Lipinki, 55 inhabitants).

History

Early History

Once in the year 1951 about 3000 year old graves were discovered from the Bronze Age in the forest near Mücka, was found in the 1955 another burial ground from the same period. In the tombs urns and remains of bones, other vessels and bronze needles were found.

A resident was encountered during the tree stump Roden on a vessel and stone collections. A few days later, the local historian Bruno Friedland began with the excavations, which he could expose 8 tombs from the time of 1200 BC. In each grave there were burnt bones and vessels.

Early Modern Times

The Sorbian place name Mikov ( 1408 ) and the 1515 named Micke indicate a person named Mika as a settlement founders. 1534 is called the village Mickau, 1548 to Micke, 1570 Mieckau, 1746 Micke. The manor was since 1614 the family fief of Gersdorf. In 1638 the Mückasche yard and a peasant economy burned down. Mrs. Esther Veronika Gersdorf sold the Lehnrittergut Micko 1648 at their " love marriage Junker " Hans Christoph von Nostiz on Quolsdorf.

Already in 1657 Rudolf von Penzig enfeoffed with it, he inherited it in 1662 his sons, who sold it in 1665 to Hans Christoph Nostic. 1672 is owned by Eleuthers Temritz. After his death in 1686, it is his widow Victoria Tugendreich, born of Kyaw (now wife of Wehlen ) confirms 1699 as Allodium and heritage. At her death in 1717 she leaves the goods Mücka, Radischolz Neudorf and her brother Johann Adolph von Kyaw, who died in 1737 without heirs. Since 1737 it is unified with Creba. The villages nine village and Ratscholz be (small Radisch ) until 1812 called in all Lehnsbriefen as belonging.

Until 1913 Count Johann Georg von Einsiedel was the owner of the manor. In December 1913, has been sold to Baron von Schlotheim from Brandenburg an der Havel.

Under Nazi rule, the town was renamed in 1936 in stock pond. Local renamings were in Lusatia was customary to leave the mainly Slavic place names disappear. 1947, the decision was reversed.

Railway connection

On 1 June 1874, the railway line Kohlfurt - Falkenberg was handed over to public transport. The administration received the Oberlausitzer Railway Company, Mücka receives a station.

So went according to schedule ( from 15 May 1877) of Mücka direction Hoyerswerda the trains at 5:35 clock, clock 14:37 and 18:16 clock. Toward Kohlfurt they drove 7:00 clock, clock 14:37 and 17:44 clock.

Until December 1895 a narrow-gauge railway to Crebaer area as well as an industrial line was moved to the quarry Sproitz and put into operation.

Factories

Significantly to the development of the place was Robert Mehling at his saw mill and Ernst Mechelk with its stone factory and building materials and fertilizer plot. On May 13, 1896 " Friend of the People of Upper Lusatia " reported that the saw-mill of Mr. Mehling completely burned down. Some of the buildings of the factory of Ernst Mechelk are still used by Raiffeisen GmbH.

Census

Even at the end of the 19th century was marked mainly Mücka Sorbian. Arnost Muka identified in 1884 had a total population of 432 inhabitants; which were 352 Sorbs ( 81%) and 80 German.

According to a census of October 8, 1919 Mücka had 461 inhabitants and 47 employed in Gutsbezirk workers.

Policy

On July 8, 2007 mayoral elections were held to choose a successor for mayor Holger Theurich. The individual applicants Günter Holtschke and Markus gravels reached this 38.4 or 36.8 %, therefore a by-election was required. On 22 July 2007, Gravel was able to prevail with 57.1 % of the vote. The turnout was 59.6 % in the first and 62.5 % in the second ballot.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Federal highway 156 runs west and State Road 115 east of the community. The railway line Niesky - Hoyerswerda runs through the municipality. The Federal Highway 4 runs south of the community. They can be reached through the White Mountains around (17 km) connection.

Education

The community maintains a high school ( secondary school and junior high school transition ).

Personalities

The singer Ruth Glowa - Burkhardt (1918-1971) was born in Mücka.
