Schloss Münchenwiler

Munich Wiler (French Villars -les -Moines ) is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The community forms a Bernese exclave in the territory of the canton of Fribourg and is on the railway line Fribourg - Morat on the outskirts of the city of Murten. The A1 highway passes through the municipality in a tunnel. After Freiburg, the distance 15 km, 30 km to Bern.

History

In 1080 the two brothers Rodulfus and Giraldus gave Vilar all their possessions to the monastery of Cluny in Burgundy. Beginning of the 12th century a Tochterklösterchen, a so-called Priorat originated. It was one of 26 branches of the Congregation of Cluny in the present-day territory of Switzerland; which are best known Payerne, Romainmôtier, St.Petersinsel, Rüeggisberg, Rougemont. The priory lasted until just before the Reformation. By papal decree came together with the outer owned Clavaleyres in 1484 to the Bernese St.Vinzenzenstift (Münster pin ). After various changes of ownership, the rule came in 1668 to the family of Graffenried, who owned it until 1932. Especially in the mid -19th century, the feudal manor was renovated and expanded, remains still visible today, the spacious gardens. After the French invasion in 1798 Munich was Wiler ( with Clavaleyres ) beaten to Freiburg. In mediation time succeeded in Berne, recover the two villages again; 1807 were the District Laupen incorporated. Since 2010 they are part of the administrative region of Bern -Mittelland. In a foreclosure the Schlossbesitzung 1932 was knocked down to a new burg consortium, which it 1943 the canton of Bern resold. Attractions

The landmark of Munich Munich Wiler Wiler is the castle. With the construction of the castle, the then lord of the manor also left the historic inn bears (now a bar / restaurant) building in the heart of the village. The standing in the current Garden terrace of the bar, a small oven cottage also comes from this construction time ago.
