Münchringen

Münchringen is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 merged Münchringen with the former municipality of barns to the municipality Jegenstorf.

Geography

Münchringen is located on 522 m above sea level. Level, 12 km north- northeast of the capital of the canton of Bern ( straight line ). The village is located on a moraine east of Urtenen, on the northern edge of the Molassehügellandes between Bern and Emmental in central Switzerland.

The area of ​​2.4 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the central Bernese Mittelland, with only very minor relief differences. The area is traversed by the canalised and straightened Urtenen from southwest to northeast in a wide valley. It ranges from Mattenbühl, on the 529 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation reached by Münchringen, to the northeast over the rise of Münchringen to the edge of the Hurschwaldes at wood mill. East of Moränenwalls of Münchringen is the formerly marshy valley Turbenmoos to which the moss forest adjoins. From the municipality surface 1997 10 % came from settlements, 10 % of forest and shrubs, 79% to agriculture and slightly more than 1% was unproductive land.

To Münchringen the hamlet wood mill west part (508 m above sea level. M. ) on a hill of Urtenenniederung. Neighboring communities of Münchringen were up 31 December 2013 Zauggenried, core Ried, Hindelbank, Matt Stetten and Jegenstorf.

Population

With 864 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Münchringen one of the smaller municipalities in the canton of Bern. Of the residents 96.3 % are German, 0.8 % French-speaking and 0.8 % speak Romansh (as of 2000). The population of Münchringen amounted in 1850 to 266 residents in 1900 to 198 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased to 1970 only very slowly to 271 people. Since then, a rapid population increase was recorded within 30 years ( especially during the 1970s) associated with a doubling of the population.

Policy

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: BDP 21.7 %, SP 16.9 %, SVP 16.8 %, 11.5 % EPP, FDP 8.9 %, 7.5 % GPS, glp 5.5 %, EDU 5.1 %, CVP 3.7 %.

Economy

Münchringen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, thanks to the fertile soil of farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in the local small businesses and services ( fiduciary office, computer services firms ) available. In Münchringen today among builders, a Plasterer, a fitters and a company are represented for sanitary purposes. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the agglomeration of Bern and the Burgdorf area.

Traffic

Although no through roads lead through the village, the community is conveniently technically quite well developed. It is located on a link road from Jegenstorf after Hindelbank. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ) is located about 5 km from the center. Münchringen has no direct connection to the public transport network. The nearest railway station of the local train Bern -Solothurn in Jegenstorf lies at a distance of around 1 km.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1261 under the name Munderchingen. Later, the names Münrkingen (1300), Munch rings appeared ( 1312) and Muenchingen ( 1360 ). The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Munderich and accordingly is with the people of Munderich.

Since the Middle Ages Münchringen was under the Counts of Kyburg. Since 1406, the village was under Bernese rule and was assigned to the district court Zollikofen. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Münchringen belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Zollikofen and from 1803 to Oberamt Mrs. Fountain, received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. The hamlet of wooden mill was incorporated only in 1845 Münchringen.

Attractions

In the old town of Münchringen numerous characteristic farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved in the Bernese country style. Also the hamlet wood mill forms a closed group of houses from this period. Münchringen does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Jegenstorf - Urtenen.
