The community Murfeld is the most southwesterly community in the judicial district of Bad Radkersburg or district Südoststeiermark and has 1682 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Murfeld located in the south of Eastern Styria's hill country at the mouth of Schwarzau in the Mur River and borders the neighboring country of Slovenia. The community is located about 20 km west of Bad Radkersburg and about 40 km south of the state capital Graz. Its location in the broad valley of the Mur, the community no large differences in height and is located at 240-250 meters above sea level.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Lichendorf, Oberschwarza, Seibersdorf near St. Veit, Unterschwarza and further field. A place called Murfeld there is not.

Traffic

Murfeld is located at the South Styrian border road (B 69 ) between the Phyrn motorway A 9 and Bad Radkersburg. The connection point Gersdorf (226 ) is located on the western border municipality.

The community has three stops on the train Radkersburger in the villages Schwarza, Lichendorf and Weitersfeld an der Mur, where the line runs S51 S-Bahn Steiermark to pitch - road and Bad Radkersburg. These three stops of " stop request " was introduced with the timetable change in 2009/10.

The Graz Airport is about 40 km, the Maribor airport approx 35 km away.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 November 1979. Blazon: "From the blue and red diagonally quartered, the dividing lines covered throughout with golden lances; curved side panels with two golden clover leaves and the upper panel are covered with a golden leaf clover. "

Regular events

  • Murfelder Advent run with Nordic Walking: Since 2005, the club Murfelder Advent run held annually in mid-December a charity run in favor of regional aid projects.

The volunteer firefighters (FF ) Oberschwarza oversees the cadastral Oberschwarza and Seibersdorf. In cooperation with the FF Unterschwarza a common fire station was built and delivered to the receiving on 10 June 2007.
