Nastätten

Nastaetten is a town in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland -Palatinate and the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name. Nastaetten is a nationally recognized tourist, reported in accordance with state planning as a basic center and the center of the Blue Ländchen.

Geography

Nastaetten located in the western Hintertaunus and is the largest city in the southern Rhine -Lahn -Kreis. The town lies in the valley of Mühlbach.

History

The town was first mentioned in the land register Prüm in 893 as Nastede. 1479 Count of Katzenelenbogen died out, their "Low County " per contract of inheritance fell to the Landgrave of Hesse. Since 1557 the area was owned by the Hesse- Rhine rock and came in 1583 as successor to the Hesse- Kassel.

Already in ( and before) the 16th century was operated by Nastaetten intensive sheep farming and sells the woven from the wool fabrics as a particularly valuable " Nastätter cloth " at home and abroad. From about 1590 the cultivation of flax was an important source of income. Also cloth was made from the flax, which was often dyed blue. This is the origin of the name Blue Ländchen for the area around the place.

In 1806 it was under French administration. Since 1816 part of since then known as City Place to the Duchy of Nassau and became the seat of the Office Nastaetten. From 1866 Nastaetten became Prussian with the annexation of the Duchy, and was initially assigned to the sub- Lahn district. As of April 1, 1886 Nastaetten belonged to the western part of the defunct Office to the newly created district of Sankt Goar.

Since 1946 Nastaetten is part of Rhineland- Palatinate. Since the local government reform of 1969 the city belongs to the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis and in 1972 the seat of the newly created municipality Nastaetten.

Hospital

In Nastaetten is the Diakoniezentrum Paulinenstift Nastaetten, part of the composite Clinic Foundation Hospital Middle Rhine. It was founded in 1857 at the instigation of the Duchess Pauline of Nassau.
