Geography

Geographical location

Neubörger located in the Emsland region on the northwestern edge of the moraine hills of Hümmling between cities Papenburg in the north and in the south of Meppen and between communities Dörpen in the west and in the east Surwold. Directly west of the core location is the northern loop of the Transrapid Test Facility Emsland.

History

Neubörger was founded in 1788 by Franz Friedrich von Furstenberg as a Moor colony and, after the Second World War again a significant upswing by refugees from the eastern areas of Germany and promotion measures from the Emsland plan.

Neubörger belonged until 31 December 2004 for the district of Weser -Ems, which was dissolved as a result of administrative reform with the same date.
