Geography

Geographical Location

Neuhaus am Inn is located in the Donau -Wald directly opposite the Upper Austrian town of Schärding, which is accessible via two Innbrücken. In just 4 km away is access to the A 3 (exit Pocking ). The leading directly at the site over B 12 provides access to 17 km away, Passau, and in the opposite direction in the 160- km from the city of Munich. In future, these accident-prone route to be replaced by the currently in planning or under construction A 94. Within the area the Inn power plant Schärding -Neuhaus is the ÖBK that after three years of construction went into operation in October 1961. Is a railway station on the regional train route Passau in the neighboring municipality Ruhstorf, district Sulzbach am Inn - Mühldorf.

History

The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark which was owned by the Countess von Furstenberg since 1794. Created in 1818 the current municipality.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Vornbach was incorporated. On July 1, 1972 Mittich came ( from the district Griesbach ) and parts of the territory of Sulzbach am Inn added.

After the 1972 local government reorganization, the current three communities Neuhaus, Mittich and Vornbach were combined to form a community.

The council has been working for the municipal election on 2 March 2008 as follows:

  • CSU: 9 seats ( 53.8 % of the vote )
  • UW: 4 seats ( 27.9% of the vote)
  • SPD: 3 seats ( 18.3% of the vote)

A total of nine councilors are compared with the last election in 2002 in the new body.

First Mayor Joseph is Schifferer (CSU ), which in 2008 was re-elected with 69.93 % of the valid votes.

Deputy Mayor since 2008 Stephan Dorn (CSU ), third mayor is Mary Marek (CSU ).

Economy, agriculture and forestry

The Kapsreiter group from Schärding operation in Neuhaus am Inn a quarry with gravel production. It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of Agriculture and Forestry 24, 441 in manufacturing and in trade and transport 88 persons work at the workplace. In other areas, were employed to social security at the workplace 217 people. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 941 in the manufacturing sector, there was an operation in the construction of three plants. In addition, in 1999, there were 87 farms with an agricultural area of 2407 hectares, of which 2311 acres of arable land and 81 acres of meadowland.

Personalities

The Countess Furstenberg lost in 1800, the 1320 Duke Heinrich XIV on a rocky island in the Inn was built in Schloss Neuhaus by a frivolous game of the lawyer Georg Upper Meier, who gave King of the Castle many goods to the poor and only low ground interest demanded.
