History
The name probably goes back to the construction of a new church after the invasions of Hungary around 1000. Originally a branch of Tiefenbach, according to a different view of Aicha vorm Wald, Neukirchen later became parish. Then let the testimony of a pastor Sopo of Neukirchen in the years 1158 and 1214 and the testimony of a pastor or Gebolf Gewolf of Neukirchen 1249 close. Neukirchen was documented for the first time as a parish in the year 1417th
The patronage of this parish had the Bishop of Passau. Neukirchen belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria, which in 1330 transferred the patronage of the Earl of Black Stone to Englburg and from 1617 the Earl of Taufkirchen to Englburg. Several black Steiner are buried in the parish church. In 1634 the plague raged in the Hofmark Neukirchen.
Neukirchen vorm Wald belonged to Rentamt Landshut and the district court Vilshofen of the Electorate of Bavaria. The Catholic parish church of St. Martin is referred to as the "Mother Church of the Three Burgenland ".
The municipality in its current form was created by the administrative reform in the 19th century. The first school house was built in 1829, today in 1960. The town hall was built in 1965.
