Neumark, Thuringia

Neumark is a country town in the northern part of the Weimar area and part of the joint management Nordkreis Weimar in Thuringia.

Location

Neumark is located north of the city of Weimar in the extended foot of the Northern Slope of the Great Etter Mountain in the fertile Thuringian Basin and in the rain shadow of the mountain above. Southwest of the village is the dam Vippachedelhausen. The country road in 1054 recorded the village traffic default.

History

With its good 470 inhabitants Neumark is currently the smallest city in Thuringia and by Arnis the second smallest of Germany. Unlike Arnis ( collection to the city as part of a municipal reform 1934) has Neumark over a medieval town charter, which has already been awarded in 1326.

Neumark was the first time in 1179 as Novo Forno documented comprehensible, 1248 as novum forum as villa (village). The castle was captured in the War of Succession in 1249 by supporters of " Henry the Illustrious " and destroyed. From her only ditches and Umwallungen are left. 1326 appears Nuwinmarkete as stat ( city).

Manor

The family of Rockhausen on Kirchscheidungen acquired in 1600 the manor Neumark ( near Weimar ). The Duke of Saxon- weimarsche Councilor Frederick Hort leather (* 1579 † 1640) calls 1633 in Neumark four knights seats: the Rieteselsche of Wurmbsche of Techwitzische and Rockhausensche manor. In a report from 1637, in which it announced that on January 31 of the year 32 houses, parish, town hall and 22 barns were placed in Neumark by the soldiers in ashes, only three noble knights seats are listed and said of these that they had been completely looted.
